The Greenbrier, Cheat and Potomac headwaters all offer spectacular boating opportunities within minutes of Durbin. Rivers vary in difficulty from flatwater to Class 5 water for advanced boaters. Prime boating season is from March through May, although late summer/early fall rains can bring water levels up. River levels can be accessed via the American Whitewater Association website.

Hiking
The Durbin area has numerous hiking opportunities easily accessed from town. The West Fork Trail begins on the west end of Durbin and follows an old railroad bed along West Fork of the Greenbrier river to the community of Glady, WV. The Allegheny Trail is a popular hiking trail for both through hikers and day hikers.
Mountain Biking
A number of mountain biking routes lead into the Monongahela Forest from Durbin. Joeys Bike Shop in Elkins WV is an excellent resource for Durbin area mountain biking information.
Festivals
Durbin Days Heritage July 18th-21st. Myer's Amusement Rides. 5K Walk/Run on Saturday. Fun for the whole family.
